Challenge
For Nokia, continuous innovation and product development are lifeblood. Application development speed is important at the intense overseas markets. In addition to Nokia’s own organization, partners must be closely involved in product development. In addition, changes and error management must work flawlessly. For an application development tool, Nokia chose IBM Rational change. To provide full output from the tool, a new software development process had to be developed supporting the operational model and use of the tool in the best way possible. With more than 5 000 users and up to 2 000 simultaneous users, the security of the system had to be high.
Solution
Contribyte took the long application development project development project to an end. Contribyte and Nokia defined operational models and processes as well as system changes. Also, a follow-up product development scorecard was developed. Cooperation and interaction between all development actors was taken into consideration during the entire application development lifecycle. After that Contribyte, designed and implemented the project with a new process and tool, and the system performance was verified. Practical implementation consisted of e.g. building a development environment, as well as technical assistance in operating, training and support tasks.
Benefits
Using Contribyte reforms, Nokia stepped up its product development clearly. Full use of the new tool and a new software development process taking into account business needs boosted product development functioning. The transmission of information between the different application developers flows and is transparent. Change and error management works better. Clear follow-up indicators help monitor product development, error conditions, and lack of optimization of the process. System security level is banking software category.
